Community’s Child receives $500 NewcleusGives Charity Check on behalf of Paris Chevalier of South Bay Credit Union in Torrance CA. Paris Chevalier, CEO of South Bay Credit Union in Torrance CA, was the winner of our $500 charity check giveaway at the RMJ Foundation Golf Outing. Paris chose Community’s Child as the receiving organization.

Community’s Child was recognized as the Non-Profit of the year in 2021 by the South Bay Chamber of Commerce due to its work as a community food pantry in the South Bay area.

“During the height of COVID, we successfully pivoted our “Healthy Bags” Hope Community Center’s food pantry, from serving 220 food-insecure elementary school students to serving 11,000 South Bay Households with 37,000 food insecure individuals.  The expansion of our “Healthy Bags” program saw us providing weekly deliveries to 160 plus homebound seniors, while also serving hundreds of weekly drive-through families.  We also became a produce distribution hub, serving 20 other local food pantries.  We currently receive and distribute upwards of 25,000 pounds of fresh produce, dairy, meats and nonperishables to more than 10,000 food insecure individuals each week. “

Community’s Child also owns and operates, “Building Hope,” a two-year transitional living program that serves South Bay’s homeless women and children.  To date, more than 250 women and children have made “Building Hope” their temporary home.  This program boasts a 90% success rate with success being measured by attaining higher education, sustainable employment and long-term housing.

Paris Chevalier, CEO of South Bay Credit Union:

“We’re thrilled that South Bay Credit Union won this opportunity to support one of our favorite charities! We are hyper-focused on being an integral and vital member of our South Bay community — in fact, we support more than 20 local organizations through donations and sponsored events and have raised more than $150,000 for Children’s Miracle Network. Plus, our team members volunteer thousands of employee hours making a positive impact in our community. So, it was a challenge to narrow it down to just one beneficiary, but we selected Community’s Child to receive the $500 raffle gift. That amount of money will be truly significant for them and their efforts to help homeless women with infants with safe, structured living environments and support services to help them break through the patterns associated with homelessness.

On behalf of South Bay Credit Union, Community’s Child and the entire South Bay community, I want to thank Newcleus for this generous gift!”
